Beschreibung
Monel 400-Absperrklappe
Die WDL Monel Butterfly Valve is designed for hydrofluoric
acid, seawater and selected reducing chemical media. Monel 400, designated
as UNS N04400, is a nickel-copper alloy used where common stainless steel
may not provide sufficient corrosion resistance.
WDL supplies Monel 400 butterfly valves in wafer, lugged and double-flanged
designs. Soft-seated, high-performance and metal-seated configurations can
be supplied with manual, pneumatic or electric operation.
Why Is Monel 400 Used for Butterfly Valves?
Monel 400 combines mechanical strength with resistance to many reducing
media. It is often considered for hydrofluoric acid systems because the
nickel-copper alloy can perform better than common stainless steel under
correctly controlled HF conditions.
- Suitable for many deaerated hydrofluoric acid conditions
- Resistance to seawater and flowing saltwater
- Useful performance in selected reducing acids and alkaline media
- Good mechanical properties across a broad temperature range
- Available for soft-seated and metal-seated valve designs
- Suitable for manual or automated process control

- Oil, gas and refinery auxiliary systems
Monel 400 Selection Notes
Monel 400 is not automatically suitable for every hydrofluoric acid
condition. Dissolved oxygen, aeration, oxidizing salts, temperature,
concentration and flow velocity can change the corrosion rate. The valve
seat and packing must also be compatible with the process fluid.
For seawater service, flow conditions should be reviewed because stagnant
seawater can create different corrosion behavior from continuously moving
seawater. Mixed acids and media containing strong oxidizers may require
another nickel alloy.
Häufig gestellte Fragen
Is Monel 400 suitable for hydrofluoric acid?
Monel 400 is commonly considered for many hydrofluoric acid applications,
particularly under reducing or deaerated conditions. Concentration,
temperature, oxygen and impurities must be confirmed before selection.
Can Monel K-500 be used for the valve stem?
Monel K-500 may be considered when higher stem strength is required. Its
compatibility and heat-treatment condition must be reviewed for the
specified medium.
What information is required for a quotation?
